The Role
This is an entry-level Linux/Splunk Engineer role with a significant focus on leading and shaping the data analytics and Splunk architecture for a critical national security mission. It's not just about routine system administration; it's about taking ownership of the entire logging pipeline to provide real-time mission visibility. The person in this role will be a key player in helping analysts extract meaningful intelligence from vast amounts of data. This is a 100% on-site role in Laurel, MD with a base salary around $165k and a $10,000 sign-on bonus, paid within your first 30 days.
What You'll Bring
- Technical BS (or 4 years of experience)
- Foundational understanding of systems thinking and an eagerness to apply it within secure environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of the logging space and a desire to learn (or experience with) data translation into actionable insights.
- Experience reducing alert noise, optimizing search latency, and designing effective Splunk dashboards (with guidance and mentorship).
- Ability to collaborate with mission users to improve their insight-to-decision pipeline within Splunk.
- Experience or strong desire to learn and apply best practices for tuning Splunk ingestion and parsing logic.
- IAT Level 1 certification (Sec+, A+, Net+, CCNA, etc.).
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Familiarity with Splunk concepts or any introductory Splunk certifications.
- Exposure to data processing concepts or tools like NiFi or ELK.
- A basic understanding of cloud computing environments.
Clearance Requirements
TS/SCI with FS Polygraph (no clearance upgrades or CCAs). Please note, you MUST have the required clearance for consideration (uncleared or under-cleared applicants will not receive a response).
