Summer Ceramics Instructor

Starting salary: $2,600 + ($150-$300) travel allowance

About the role
Camps Kenwood & Evergreen in Wilmot, NH, is seeking a Ceramics Instructor to join our Arts Team for Summer 2026. You’ll design and run hands-on ceramics sessions that spark curiosity and creativity in campers aged roughly 8–15. You’ll teach both beginner and intermediate techniques, supervise kiln firing, manage glaze work and drying schedules, and help campers complete finished pieces they’re proud to take home.

• Dates: June 14 – August 8, 2026
• Salary: $2,600 + $150 travel allowance. Candidates with a relevant degree (art/ceramics/education) receive an additional $500. Base pay is flexible based on ceramics teaching experience.

Scope: Daily classes of 10-20 campers, exhibition opportunities, and collaborative projects across the arts team.

What you’ll do

• Plan and teach structured ceramics lessons (wheel and handbuilding).
• Demonstrate safe kiln operation, glazing techniques, and studio maintenance.
• Prepare materials and manage drying/firing schedules to ensure finished pieces.
• Adapt projects for different skill levels and ages.
• Maintain a clean, safe studio and teach studio safety to campers.
• Participate fully in camp life: cabins, activities, staff meetings, and community events.

Ideal candidate

• Experience teaching ceramics or pottery to children (ages 8–15).
• Proficiency with wheel-throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and kiln operation.
• Portfolio of work and lesson examples.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom/studio management skills.
• Community-oriented, enthusiastic, and comfortable living in a close-knit residential environment.

Staff development is central to our approach — we aim to help you grow personally and professionally. Staff may earn formal certifications in leadership, communication, collaboration, creativity, and other workplace skills during their time with us.
