We provide food services in an array of celebrated New York City cultural institutions including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Wave Hill, and The Apollo Theater. We are known for full-service catering and events, corporate workplace dining and amenity programs, and large-scale event and festival production. Great Performances is the nation’s first caterer to own and operate an organic farm, Katchkie Farm located in Kinderhook, NY. Great Performances seeks a full-time Prep Cook for our catering production kitchen. We are looking for an individual with a high energy level and a desire to learn and enhance their culinary skills. You must have the ability to work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute menu items according to the chef’s standards of preparation, seasoning, presentation, and portioning
• Excel in a fast-paced environment with high-quality standards
• Maintain food safety standards according to NYC Department of Health guidelines
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workstation
• Maintain a positive, team-spirited approach with a willingness to support fellow cooks as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of culinary or restaurant experience
• Excellent knife skills 
• Professional culinary references required
• Experienced in dishwashing and sanitation
• Must own a complete knife and tool kit
• Must have regular computer access
• Impeccable standards of personal hygiene
• New York City Food Handler's Certificate is a plus
• Strong work ethic, well organized, focused, attentive to details
• Dependable and punctual
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and stand for at least 8 hours

Location:   Bronx, New York

Schedule:   Seasonal role with the requirement to work any shift on any day as needed

Hourly rate: $18.00 - $22.00/hour 

Job Type:  Full-time
