Job Description
TekCom Resources is looking for an Underground Directional Driller for a full-time, direct hire role with a telecom firm working in the Greenville, SC area!
As an OSP Underground Directional Driller, you will operate heavy equipment necessary for underground fiber installation - i.e. plowing, installing duct, pulling fiber and burying drops. Candidates MUST have directional drilling experience to be considered for this role.
Your duties will include: - Operate heavy equipment to plow, place duct, pull cable and direct bury mainline and drops
- Assist with location and verification of utilities prior to work
- Read utility locates, coordinate potholing and ensure safety of existing facilities
- Help keep projects on schedule and ensure quality of underground installation work meets company standards
- Participate in the maintenance of an organized warehouse and yard
- Communicate with customers on potential issues and pass that feedback along to
- Construction and Project Managers as needed
- Participating in the training of incoming team members under your supervision.
- Read prints and have knowledge of underground construction process
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment, tools and supplies
Our client would like to see this experience in your background: - At least 1-2 years of underground directional drilling experience for OSP/fiber projects
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to a directional drill, trencher, backhoe, excavator, etc.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Be able to identify and troubleshoot problems
- Positive attitude, hard work ethic and priority for safety
- CDL strongly preferred
